Local member grants

Community thought bubbleLooking for funding for a community project?

The Community Engagement Team manages three popular and highly successful funding schemes;

For 2011/12 there is around £1.7 million available in grants across the county to inject into locally based projects that achieve lasting community benefit.

Funding is divided up between the 12 districts and local county councillors will decide how they wish to recommend projects for funding.  For example in some areas they will ask the local community to vote for projects at ‘You decide’ community events.  So if your organisation is looking for funding, we recommend that you contact your local County Councillor first to discuss your project with them and gain their support.

The type of activities supported by local member grants varies enormously and can range from marketing and training costs, community safety schemes, sports and education related projects to larger refurbishment projects in community halls.

Often the grants are a useful source of seed funding for larger projects or to match fund grants from other organisations.  Search for funding opportunities.

For more information on how to apply please contact your local Community Engagement Officer.
