Do you live in a public or private road? Sometimes, the
precise status of a road or piece of land can have implications for
you, and you need to be aware of what those are.
If you are thinking of buying a property in a private road, for
example, there may be costs that you haven't considered - for
maintenance of the road, paths, verges and streetlights, for
example.
Kent's highway network is a mix of:
- public (adopted) roads
- private (unadopted) roads
- paths and pavements
- verges and 'amenity land'
- structures, signs and lighting
You will be able to find the status of a road through the Kent
County Council
