South East Maidstone Strategic Link

An outline route for a bypass to Leeds and Langley was approved in 1997. In discussion with Maidstone Borough Council a transport strategy for the town is being developed. As part of that strategy there is a role for a south-eastern strategic route, which would incorporate a bypass to Leeds and Langley.The scheme is flagged up in the LTP as a contender for construction in the LTP(3) period of 2011-2016.

Current Situation

Any further feasibility work at the moment is premature and requires the outcome from the Local Development Framework, the Core Strategy of which has been published by Maidstone Borough Council for public consultation.
