This section of Fastrack runs between Overcliffe and
Springhead Road and provides bus lanes and junction priority
measures to improve acces to Ebbsfleet Station.
SEEDA is the Lead Partner and in receipt of funding in
connection with the HST4i Interreg IIIB initiative aimed at
improving access to the European high speed train network. The
County Council is a partner with SEEDA and has been allocated
€3,000,000 of European Regional Development Funding (ERDF). The
Government has provided £8m of Community Infrastructure Fund
funding.
The new bus priority measures should be in place by the time
Ebbsfleet Station opens in November 2007.
The remainder of the Fastrack network, through the development
to the north of Dartford, Eastern Quarry, Swanscombe Peninsula and
Northfleet Embankment will be provided as part of those
developments.
Current Situation
Construction is underway by Fitzpatrick Civil Engineering. Some
road closures are necessary to allow the works to be constructed
effectively and safely.
The scheme is on programme for substantial completion in November
2007 in time for the route to be available for Fastrack buses to
serve Ebbsfleet Station. |
