School & college services

There are several different types of school services, some of which are also available to the general public:

Some bus services operate only on school days:
Whilst these services are primarily intended to carry pupils to / from school or college, they are also available to the general public. These services are identified on timetables (usually by the symbol 'Sch') and on the bus services page (in the frequency column).

Some buses serve different routes on schooldays:
This is also indicated on timetables. If in doubt, consult route information on Traveline (link opens in a new window).

Other services operate solely to serve specific schools or colleges:
These services may have restrictions on who may travel, and routes or times can change to accommodate students' needs.

Schools may be aware of other services available, particularly for pupils that are not entitled to free or subsidised school transport.

Home to School Transport

Your child may be eligible for free transport to school. For further details, please visit the getting to school pages, or contact Admissions and Transport on 01622 696170 or 01622 696164.

If your child attends school in Canterbury district, Tunbridge Wells district or Tonbridge town you may be eligible to apply for the Kent Freedom Pass scheme, which provides an annual bus pass to students for a one-off payment of £50.

Further information about how to get to school or college is available on the 11-19 travel website (link opens in a new window).
