Yellow lines
|
Kent County Council controls where single and double
yellow lines are placed.
Yellow lines control where and when people can park. They are
very important for:
- increasing road safety for drivers and
pedestrians
In some places, parked cars can reduce
visibility to such an extent that the road becomes unsafe for road
users and pedestrians. This is particularly the case near junctions
and crossings.
- reducing congestion
Parked cars mean narrower roads. And in some places, this would
means traffic jams and delays - especially during peak traffic
hours.
What does a single yellow line mean?
A single yellow line means that parking is allowed, but that it
is restricted. Normally parking is allowed between certain
times.
The details of the restriction will be shown on signs (plates)
along that stretch of road.
What does a double yellow line mean?
A double yellow line means that parking is not allowed at any
time.
Can I request yellow lines in my street or elsewhere?
If you think that parking is causing a safety problem in your
street or neighbourhood, you should contact your local
council. |
