Streets and pavements

Kent County Council regularly and carefully maintains streets and pavements in Kent to:

• increase safety for pedestrians and road users
• ensure traffic can flow smoothly
• catch faults quickly before they cause major cost or delay

Maintaining Kent's streets and pavements is a vital and major task for the council. Kent has over 5,000 miles of streets and pavements, and over 100,000 street lights and other lit signs.

We have a rolling maintenance programme covering road surfaces, traffic signals and other street and pavement issues.
