Subways, tunnels and other structures
|
There are important structures on the highway that we need
to regularly maintain. These include:
- subways
- culverts
- gantries
- tunnels
- viaducts
- retaining walls
- footbridges
How do we maintain highway structures?
We carry out two types of maintenance:
Operational maintenance
This is essential for the safety and operation of a structure.
This may include:
- clearing drainage systems
- subway lighting
- height and weight restriction signs
Routine maintenance
This is needed for normal wear and tear, and protects the
structure over time. Typical work includes:
- repainting
- repointing
- rewaterproofing
- minor concrete repairs
- resurfacing
Who is responsible for lights in subways?
This depends if the lighting is part of a wider system or just
for the subway. If you notice a problem with subway lighting, you
can contact us and we can tell you who is responsible.
