Wider Impact of Kent's LTP2 Targets

10.32 The County Council recognises that the impact of its LTP targets will cut across a number of agendas and will support the objectives of a range of local strategies such as Kent's Community Plan "The Vision for Kent", Kent's Environment Strategy and Kent's Economic Strategy "Kent Prospects." This integration of local policy objectives can result in a more co-ordinated approach to making Kent a better place to live, work and travel.

10.33 The wider impacts of Kent's LTP targets include:

  • Supporting communities - reducing social exclusion by providing better access to transport and providing more transport choice.
  • Supporting economic development - by making Kent a more accessible to visitors, investors, businesses and the workforce.
  • Improving health - by increasing levels of personal mobility and fitness and reducing levels of atmospheric pollution. Also by reducing the number of acute hospital bed days (PSA2).
  • Promoting a more sustainable culture - by promoting more sustainable modes of transport and creating more sustainable travel patterns across the county.

10.34 The impact will also be felt at a regional and national level. As ultimately the successful delivery of Kent's LTP targets will make a significant contribution towards providing better access to key services, tackling congestion, improving road safety and improving air quality both in the South East region and within the UK
