Navigating content
After selecting a category from the homepage, you will be
presented with one of the category homepages. The navigation panel
on the top left side of your screen will list a range of
sub-categories. Selecting these will enable you to refine your
search further.
The navigation panel highlights the page you are currently
viewing. It also shows you the path you have taken to reach that
point.
You can retrace your steps at time, by clicking on a preceding
link in the navigation panel.
From the category homepages, the 'Choose another section' drop
down box, allows you to move to any other high level section of the
site.
In various parts of the site, signposts are provided to make
finding information easier. Some of these include;
- Hyperlinks in the text - clicking on these will take you
directly to relevant information
- 'Popular panels' - Frequently visited links, popular with other
customers
- 'See also' - Related information held in other parts of the
site, or external websites
- 'Useful websites - Related sites provided by others. (see our
terms and
conditions)
- Promotions - these are images which highlight individual
services in our site
Additional Features
We have included a number of features to make finding
information easier.
Search
This website has a search box at the top of each page. Enter a
subject keyword most closely related to the information you are
trying to find. The results page will provide a list of links which
most closely match your enquiry. If you do not find what you are
looking for, try another keyword, or use the tools on the left hand
side of the search results screen to refine your search
further.
A-Z
We have categorised information and services in a useful
'A-Z', listing information and
services according to their intial. The
A-Z link is at the top of each
page.
Some of the information may be described in more than one way.
For example 'Abandoned Vehicles' is categorised under 'A' but also
under 'D' for 'Dumped Cars'.
Site Map
Our site map provides a logical structure of the website,
listing each category and the information it holds. You can access
the site map from the link at the top of every page.
Publications
To make finding publications easier, this site has a central
Publications library. Whilst all
documents are described in the relevant content of the site,
references to documents will take you directly to the
publications library. Whilst most
documents are free of charge, we will advise you if there is a
charge, before you download it.
You can also search the publications library by selecting the
link at the top of each page, then browsing categories in the
navigation panel, or by using the search feature.
Your Neighbourhood
You may be looking for information or services near to where you
live. By entering your Kent postcode into the 'Your Neighbourhood'
box on any of the homepages and clicking 'search', 'Your
neighbourhood' will show you a map of your postal area, and a range
of useful links.
Your Kent postcode shows the approximate position of a service,
so please check before you travel.
We will make every effort to ensure that the information is
accurate and up-to-date. However, we cannot accept responsibility
for any loss or inconvenience caused by reliance on inaccurate
material contained in this site or others we may link to. Please
see our terms and
conditions.
Accessibility
We try to ensure our pages can be accessed by as many people as
possible. See our
accessibility page for
more information.
Using plugins
Some of the content on this websites requires that a small
program, known as a 'plugin', is installed on your machine. Two of
the most popular plugins required by websites today are the Adobe
Acrobat Reader and the Macromedia Flash Player. Where content
requiring these or any other plugins appears on this website a link
to a page where you can download the plugin will be provided.
Printing pages
On certain websites, printing web pages can be a problem. Often
the amount of information on the screen doesn't fit the A4 paper
format of your printer, meaning that information can be lost.
To overcome this, we have introduced a 'print' function on the
bottom of each page. When this is selected, an automatically
formatted page will appear, optimised for A4 printout. You can then
print this page in the normal way from the 'file' menu in your
browser and close the new window once printed.
