20mph zones

We put 20mph zones in areas where there is a history of crashes involving child pedestrians or cyclists. These zones are mainly used in residential areas.

In these zones, physical traffic calming measures, such as speed bumps, are used to keep speeds low.

Who can request a 20mph zone?

Local residents can ask us to consider putting a 20mph limit in place, if they feel there is significant danger to pedestrians, and especially children.
