Pothole repairs
Last winter was the coldest and wettest winter for many years
and the road network in Kent suffered unprecedented damage. Record
numbers of potholes have been reported to us since the beginning of
the year, and we are still working hard to repair this
damage.
How we’re repairing pothole damage
We have extra crews in each district, working on a ‘find and
fix’ basis so that all potholes on a stretch of road will be filled
at the same time. Under ‘find and fix’ specialist tarmac
contractors are repairing every fault they encounter on our minor
and rural roads that make up 71% of Kent’s 5,000-mile network.
View a list of roads they will be working on (PDF, 87k) over
the next few weeks. Please note that this is not a final list and
will be updated regularly with other roads across the
county.
While this work is taking place, our highway maintenance crews
will continue to repair Kent’s A and B roads by filling potholes
and resurfacing sections if they are badly damaged.
Reporting potholes to us
If you see a pothole, please tell us about it using our
online fault reporting form or call us
24 hours a day on 08458 247 800. To help us find and repair the
pothole, it is useful if you can give us details about its size and
location.
If you are reporting more than 1 pothole in the same road, when
filling in the online form please select ‘potholes’ then ‘multiple
potholes (same road only)’ from the drop down lists.
Important: If the issue is a hazard to public safety or
anything else urgent, then call us immediately on 08458 247
800.
How many potholes have we fixed this year?
Since the beginning of the year we have fixed
over 130,000 potholes and are resurfacing areas of the road if the
damage is really bad, which is known as patching.
