Road status
Do you live on a public or private road? Sometimes, the precise
status of a road or piece of land can have implications for you,
and you need to be aware of what those are.
If you are thinking of buying a property in a private road,
there may be costs that you haven't considered - for example,
maintenance of the road, paths, verges and streetlights.
Kent's highway network includes:
- public (adopted) roads
- private (unadopted) roads
- paths and pavements
- verges and 'amenity land' structures, signs and
lighting.
We keep a list of the status of a road in
the Kent County Council Highways Gazetteer.
