Apply for a Kent Freedom Pass
Young people in school years 7 to 11 can travel by bus
throughout Kent at any time with a Kent Freedom Pass, making travel
easier and more affordable. After the single payment for the pass
each academic year, bus travel is free any day of the week
on participating bus routes in Kent.
Who can apply?
Applicants must be:
- in academic year 7 to 11 (students who would be
in year 11, but have been put forward into year 12, are also
- a Kent resident (living in a household that pays Council Tax to
a Kent district council)
- or aged 16 - 18 years old, live in Kent and qualify as a
young person in care, a care leaver or a young carer (see below for
Non-Kent residents who go to school in Kent aren’t
eligible for a Kent Freedom Pass and should contact their own
local authority to find out if any other schemes are available.
How much does it cost?
The standard annual fee is £100 but you may be eligible for
a reduced fee.

How to apply for your Kent Freedom Pass
Apply online - if you are in academic year 7 to 11 and are
paying the standard fee of £100.
- Apply by post – if you can’t apply online
or you are eligible for a reduced fee, you can
a completed application form, your photograph and payment to:
Transport Integration, Aylesford Highways Depot, St. Michael's
Close, Aylesford ME20 7TZ.

You can apply at any time between now and 30 May 2014 for a
Kent Freedom Pass for academic year 2013-14 but remember:
- it can take up to 28 working days to process and you'll have to
pay your fares until your pass is ready - these are not
- the fee for each pass remains the same throughout the
year and will expire on 31 August 2014, regardless
of the date is it applied for or issued.
