Rural Access to Service programme
85% of Kent is rural in nature, and 13% of rural households
have no access to a private car. Transport is vitally important for
individuals and communities in rural areas, who can often be at
risk of social exclusion.
The Kent and Medway
Rural Access to Services programme is a three year programme,
funded by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and
managed by Kent County Council and its countywide partners.
The Rural Access to Services Programme is committed to
developing and improving rural transport services with the aim of
ensuring that people living in rural areas have reliable access to
jobs, services and social activities.
A key partner to this programme, Action with Communities in Rural
Kent has created a comprehensive database of community
transport schemes operating across the Kent and Medway area.
