Maidstone town centre resurfacing scheme
We will be undertaking several resurfacing and maintenance schemes within the limits of Maidstone town centre and major routes during the 2017/18 financial year.
To minimise disruption to road users these works will be undertaken outside of peak hours and will be during weekday nights unless otherwise stated.
If you live locally to these schemes, you will receive a start of works notice 2 to 4 weeks before work starts. Signs advertising the work will appear 2 to 3 weeks before the work starts at the approaches to the section of carriageway.
If you have any questions call us on 03000 418181.
The A229 Royal Engineers Road will be closed at the roundabout adjacent to Staceys Street and James Whatman Way on Tuesday 4 April 2017 for up to 6 nights (not including the weekend). The works will take place between 10pm and 5am on each night.
The works will be undertaken under partial closures which will involve resurfacing the roundabout in two halves and closing the northbound and southbound A229 separately to minimise disruption to traffic flows to and from Maidstone town centre. The phasing for these works is as follows.
- On the 4 and 6 April 2017, the northbound A229 Royal Engineers Road (section immediately adjacent to James Whatman Way heading away from the town centre) will be closed from St Faiths Street, as heading northbound. The Southbound carriageway will remain open during this time.
- On 5, 7, 10 and 11 of April 2017, the southbound A229 Royal Engineers Road (section immediately adjacent to Staceys Street heading towards the town centre) will be closed from the Ringlestone Roundabout, as heading southbound. The northbound carriageway will remain open during this time.
The works are required to resurface the roundabout and all approaches at this location. A full diversion will be in place on each night and for each phase of works to direct traffic to their destination
Pudding Lane, Maidstone will be closed for urgent resurfacing works on Wednesday 12 April 2017 for 3 nights (not including the weekend or Good Friday or Easter Monday). The times of works will be 10pm – 5am on each night of works
The closure is to allow for a full resurface and reprofiling of the carriageway surface between Earl Street and High Street.
The alternative route will be via the A229 Broadway and Fairmeadow between the junctions with Earl Street and High Street to by pass the closure at Pudding Lane.
Please be aware that there will be no access to Medway Street from Pudding Lane and access to Medway Street will be maintained from the junction with the A229 Fairmeadow. A fully signed diversion will be in place.
