Free bus travel in Kent for young people in year 7-11. Read about the future of the Kent Freedom Pass.
Apply online if you are in year 7 to 11 and pay £100 for the pass.
If you get a discount you need to download the application form (PDF, 1.5 MB).
Send your form with a photo and payment to: Transport Integration, Aylesford Highways Depot, St. Michael's Close, Aylesford ME20 7TZ.
For passes for this school year (until August 2014) you can apply until 30 May.
For passes for the next school year (September 2014) you need to apply by 18 July if you want it to be ready for the first day of the September term.
You need to renew your child’s pass each year.

If you’ve moved house or your child has changed school since you applied last year and haven’t told us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org before renewing online.

If your child goes to school in Kent but you’re not a Kent resident they can’t get a Kent Freedom Pass. Please contact your local council.
Once you’ve paid for your pass, bus travel is free. The cost of the pass is the same regardless of when you apply.

Year 7-11: ask your case worker to arrange for someone to endorse your application.
Year 11 and above: Catch 22 (formerly Rainer Kent Services) must endorse your application.
Your child can collect their pass from school. We don’t send passes to your home.
It should be ready for the first day of term if you applied or renewed on time.
We’ll write to you before the end of the summer holidays to let you know your pass is ready. If you haven’t received your letter 1 week before term begins please email email@example.com.
If your child’s pass wasn’t at the school as expected, please contact us with your email with your child’s name, date of birth and school.

If you apply or renew late you’ll need to wait up to 28 days for us to send the pass to your child’s school.
We don’t refund fares your child pays whilst waiting for their pass to arrive or write letters they can show the driver.
You can use your pass any day of the week on buses in Kent.
Outside of Kent: you can use your pass to travel to counties bordering Kent as long as the journey starts or ends in Kent.
Medway: you can’t use your pass to make journeys from one Medway address to another Medway address.

To get a replacement pass please contact us with your child’s name, address and school.

Cost: £10 per replacement
Pay: by debit or credit card if you call us. Or send us a cheque or postal order with your child’s name, address and school (made payable to Kent County Council).
You can have 3 replacement passes per school year.
We’ll send a temporary pass to your home for your child to show the driver whilst you’re waiting for your replacement.
We’ll send the replacement pass to the school before the temporary one runs out.
