We want your views on Kent County Council's latest traffic plans
for Broadstairs. A package of proposals is being put forward
following the success of the town centre 20mph zone in reducing
road casualties and traffic speeds.
Following extensive consultation, Kent Highway Services is now
putting forward two main options. Both include improvements such as
a new pelican crossing in Queens Road, a new zebra crossing in
Albion Street, and speed cushions in York Street. The main
difference is whether the lower High Street should be made one-way.
We want to know which option you prefer and whether you support a
new car park signing strategy for Broadstairs. You can comment upon
the future of the Vere Road car park, and although it is not being
put forward at present, we are also inviting you to express a view
upon whether Albion Street should be considered for
pedestrianisation at a later date.
You can read more about the proposals in the Background Report,
and view the plans for "Concept A", "Concept B" and the "Signing
Strategy", via the links below.
Please take the time to complete the Questionnaire, by filling
in the tick boxes, and then sending your new saved version to
broadstairs.traffic@kent.gov.uk
by Friday 2 May 2008.
The plans will also be on show at Broadstairs Library, The
Broadway, from Thursday 17 April to Friday 2 May during library
opening hours. In addition, Kent Highway Services officers will be
on hand to answer residents' questions in the council chamber at
Pierremont Hall, Broadstairs, on Wednesday 30 April from 1-5pm and
on Thursday 1 May from 4-8pm. If you have any difficulty in
