Kent County Council has prepared a Disability Equality Scheme to meet the new legal duties of the amended Disability Discrimination Act 2005, which came into force in December 2006.
The Tizard Centre is one of the leading academic groups working in learning disability, mental health services as well as services for older people in the UK.
Kent County Council commissioned the Tizard Centre to involve disabled people in identifying the key priorities that were used to inform the Kent Disability Equality Scheme.
The Disability Equality Scheme is now part of the Equality Strategy.
