In November 2006 three Development Plan Documents (DPDs) were submited to the Government for Examination under the Minerals Development Framework, these were the:
In the light of the Inspector's concerns and conclusions following an exploratory meeting, the County Council requested that the Government withdraw the submitted DPDs from the Examination process. The request was authorised in a Direction from the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government on 24 January 2008. Following this Direction, the County Council then wrote to all stakeholders and consultees to inform them that the DPDs had been officially withdrawn.
