Kent's newest state-of-the-art Household Waste Recycling
Centre (HWRC) opened its doors to the public at 8am on 1st
September 2008.
Kent's first undercover recycling centre,
managed by Waste Recycling Group Ltd on behalf of Kent County
Council, aims to recycle over 70% of the materials local
residents bring. The Pepperhill site expects 300,000 visits
across the 362 days a year that it is open to customers and
offers a wide range of recycling facilities. This new site
will help contribute towards Kent County Council's aim to
increase the recycling rate across all 18 HWRCs to 60% by
2012.
Pepperhill aims to provide a customer orientated
service, as not only is the site enclosed so visitors can dispose
of their household waste in comfort, protected from the elements,
but it also provides a meet and greet service to help customers
make full use of the sites facilities.
A new drive-through system has been created to
provide ease of unloading for the public, with bright icons
directing customers to the right areas for their waste.
We have two goals for this new site; for the
recycling and composting rate to be as high as can be and for
customers to have a good experience every time they use the site.
The new HWRC is a demonstration of our commitment to deliver high
quality services to residents that represent value for money.
