Family fun for family fortunes
Six lucky families have won prizes after taking part in a
competition run by Kent County Council.
The competition was held as part of National Family Week. The
idea of the week was to highlight the important role families play
in society, encourage healthy lifestyles and quality family
time.
There were approximately 140 events taking place throughout the
county during the week, which ran between May 31 and June 6. Each
day of the week saw a different theme for families to enjoy
together and a different prize on offer. The winners were:
Richard, Rebecca, Joshua and Daniel Beesley, from Tonbridge, who
won vouchers for Leeds Castle
- James Robertson, from Dartford, who won vouchers for Odeon
Cinema and dinner at Frankie and Benny’s.
- Alan and Elizabeth Ramsey (grandparents), Samuel (aged 10),
Rosa (aged 5), and Sofia (aged 5), Williams from Ashford and
Ramsgate. They won National Book Tokens.
- Kitt, Sofia, James (aged 5) and Gabriela (aged 3) Baguley, who
won vouchers for Port Lympne Wild Animal Park.
- Harry Ashmore (aged 7), from Deal, who won vouchers for the Hop
Farm.
- Faith Carr (aged 10), from Margate, who won Vouchers for AMF
Bowling.
The winner of the overall prize – a family ticket to Disneyland
Paris – was selected by drawing names out of a hat. The winner for
this was Alan and Elizabeth Ramsey, Samuel, Rosa, and Sofia
Williams from Ashford and Ramsgate.
Sarah Hohler, Cabinet Member for
Children, Families and Education, said:
"With our busy lives it is very easy to overlook the importance
of spending time together with our family. National Family Week was
a good opportunity to spend time together and have fun. I hope the
winners use their prizes to carry on enjoying their time
together.”
Each day of the week saw a different theme. The themes were:
picnic day, film day, story time, road trip, house or street party,
and games day. To enter, families sent in photographs,
drawings and accounts of what they did on those days.
