Launch of County Links bus service
3 August 2010
The first of the Kent County Links 401/421 bus services have
been launched in the Sevenoaks area.
They were launched by Kent County Council Cabinet Member for
Highways Nick
Chard and Chairman of Sevenoaks District Council Keith
Loney.
The new County Links initiative is designed to boost the use of
local bus services that are financially supported by Kent County
Council by improving the quality of the service and raising
awareness of the routes.
The 401 and 421 services, which run between Westerham and
Sevenoaks, and Sevenoaks and Swanley, respectively, were developed
in partnership with the bus operator Go Coach.
Nick Chard said:
“These are very important services for many people. By improving
the quality of the buses, bus stops and timetable displays it is
anticipated that even more people will travel on the new County
Links routes, allowing us to reduce the subsidy required to support
them.”
Austin Blackburn, Managing Director of Go Coach, said:
“I’m delighted we can work with Kent County Council to provide
these services. The council’s support means we can run very
important bus routes for people who might otherwise have a lot of
difficulty travelling around the west and north of the county.”
