Road closures during the Paralympics
Paralympic Road Cycling
This event is one of the largest competitions in the Paralympic
Games and will see more than 200 athletes from across the world
taking part. There will be 32 different races and time trials
happening throughout the six days.
Cyclists will use the track within Brands Hatch and as it is a
road cycling event, it will also take in the local roads nearby.
Spectators will be able to watch as the countries battle it out for
those coveted medals, both within Brands Hatch with a ticket and
also by the roadside.
To make sure the event goes ahead smoothly and to keep everyone
safe, it is therefore necessary to close these roads to keep the
route clear.
Approximately three miles of roads will be closed for the
Paralympic Road Cycling event between Monday 3 and Saturday 8
September. The final route is subject to change and details about
the closures will be advertised using signage, via the local media
and at kent.gov.uk/london2012 and via the KCC Highways Twitter
feed. There is also information going out to residents, such as
this leaflet and details made available to local Parish
councils.
