Register for Kent Test from 1 June to 2 July
1 June 2012
Parents who would like their child to sit the Kent Test this
September, for grammar school entry in 2013, are invited to
register between Friday 1 June and Monday 2 July 2012.
There are a couple of ways to apply. The easiest is
to complete the
online form. Alternatively
download a paper copy (PDF, 678k), pick one up
from primary schools, or to get one sent to you in the
post, call 01622 696565.
Children will sit maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal
reasoning papers, along with a written assignment. The verbal
reasoning paper takes 50 minutes and the non-verbal about 40
minutes. The maths paper and the writing exercise each take one
hour. The answer sheets for all but the writing exercise are
multiple-choice.
KCC Cabinet Member Education, Learning and Skills, Mike Whiting, said: “I would encourage parents
to register for the Kent Test. Last year, roughly two-thirds of
families opted for it to find out which school would best suit
their child. The assessment will be sent out a fortnight before
applications close, so parents can sit down with their child to
select up to four schools.”
For children attending a Kent primary school, the tests will be
held on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 September 2012. Children
living outside Kent will sit the test on Saturday 15 September
2012.
Assessments for grammar school or high school will be sent out
on Wednesday 17 October 2012, giving parents time to submit
application forms for schools before Wednesday 31 October
2012.
