KCC chairman pays tribute to Dave Lee
18 January 2012
The Chairman of Kent County Council has joined a growing number
of people paying tribute to Kent comedian and fundraiser Dave Lee
MBE.
On Monday (16 January), Mr Lee, a well-known personality in the
county, lost a brave battle against pancreatic cancer.
KCC Chairman Paulina
Stockell said: “I would like to offer my sincere condolences to
all those who knew and loved Dave. He was a true gentleman in every
sense of the word. Known to many as a star of stage and screen, it
will be for his charity work that he will be remembered most. The
county council was delighted to present him with a Kent Invicta
Award some four years ago in recognition of his support for
disabled, sick and underprivileged children. I do hope his memory
will live on through the Happy Holidays organisation.”
Dave was presented with the first ever Kent Invicta Award in
April 2008 for his outstanding achievements and generosity. As a
recipient of the county council award, he was singled out by a
panel made up of the Chairman, the Leader of the Council, the
Deputy Leader and the Leaders of the opposition groups.
The 64-year-old raised more than £2million for charity. Dave Lee’s Happy Holidays
organises holidays for disabled, sick and underprivileged children
of Kent and their immediate families.
