2012 will mark the biggest step forward for the Kent Children In Care Council (CICC) since it started in 2008.

We are planning to:

  • Set up 6 local councils and a new central CICC.
  • Set up a junior council for our 6 to 10 year old looked after children.
  • Give you a chance to take part if you are living outside Kent.
  • Offer 6 fun activity days where you can have your say about what happens in Kent and have a go at loads of great outdoor activities.
  • Create 7 new job opportunities for looked after children / care leavers to become apprentice participation workers or administrators.
  • Give County CICC members a chance get qualifications at exciting venues like the Kent Mountain Centre in Wales and on the ‘New Petra’ Belgian barge which, moored in Ostend in Belgium.
  • Work with you to build a looked after child /care leaver website where you can get advice on education, healthy eating, exercise and what you are entitled to, including information about our pledge to you. The website will be packed with stories, cartoon, webcasts and games! It will be a place where you can have your say and where you can hear what your local CICC and County CICC are doing for you.

This is what we have in mind BUT let’s start like we mean to go on.

We want to hear from you!

If you are a child or young person looked after by Kent County Council or a care leaver (aged 16 to 24) receiving ongoing support from Kent County Council please take a few minutes to fill in this online questionnaire.

Take this opportunity to make a difference and say what you think we should do to develop the CICC.

Not only will we listen to what you say, but we will complete a random draw when the questionnaire closes and the lucky winner will receive an iPod Touch!
