Creating jobs for local people and attracting companies to move
into one of Kent's most deprived areas are the reasons behind a
unique joint venture.
Within Kent there are an estimated 6,341 long-term empty
properties. In a bid to get these properties back in the market as
homes, KCC has developed the East Kent Empty Property
Initiative.
Around 5,000 young people have taken advantage of the Kent
Freedom Pass scheme which aims to tackle congestion on the school
run and enable young people to participate in more activities.
The first stage of the Tour de France proved to be a Tour de
Force for Kent when it passed through the county in July 2007.
The Clean Kent Campaign was launched by KCC in May 2004, to
tackle environmental crime, improve the cleanliness of
neighbourhoods and involve local people to help take pride in
Kent.
Working with one the largest property trusts in the United
States, KCC is delivering Kent's most prestigious mixed-use
development.
KCC works hard to secure contributions from developers for
infrastructure to support new housing development and facilities
needed to make these places where people enjoy living.
Property Group created the Property Enterprise Fund to help
develop under-performing property assets into better performing,
wealth creating property assets.
