Pick up the perfect summer read

25/06/2008

Sun-glasses on a bookPreparing for that eagerly anticipated summer holiday? Well, make sure a great summer read is top of your checklist of things to pack.

Whether it's a camping holiday on the Kent coast or a Caribbean cruise, relaxing with a good book is the ideal holiday treat.

And there is no better place to find your perfect summer read than in Kent's libraries. With over two million books, there is certainly plenty to choose from.

Go along to your local library and pick up an old favourite, find something new or ask a member of staff for a recommendation - they'll be pleased to help.

You can also pick up copies of all eight of the books featured on Richard and Judy's Summer Reads list (link opens in a new window).

If you like to plan ahead, you can even find your book before you leave the house by looking through the online library catalogue, and reserve it online too.

And don't worry if you decide to stay away for longer than planned, simply renew your loans online.

Joining a library

Joining a library is free and easy. Simply visit your nearest library or register online.

An instant ticket requires no paperwork and allows you to borrow three items straightaway.

Once proof of address has been provided adults may borrow up to 12 items and children up to eight.

2008 is the National year of Reading so it is a great time to join the library and start reading more.

Have a great time wherever you go on vacation this year. And whether you are looking for romance, adventure or a good laugh this holiday guarantee you get it by packing your perfect summer read.
