A Margate sunset, Ramsgate harbour or a field of poppies -
stunning images of Kent's countryside will soon be available to buy
thanks to a new website Kent on
Canvas.
The scheme, which will be launched on Tuesday 14 October
at 2.30pm with a display of pieces in the gallery at
County Hall, Maidstone before touring libraries around the county,
allows customers to choose from images online in a range of sizes
and reproduced on high-quality canvas.
In addition to owning a piece of art, the
initiative is a chance to see maps and paintings held by Kent
County Council's Archives Service. Prices will start from
around £25 and over time, it is expected that advanced editing
facilities will be added to the website and there will be the
opportunity to showcase local artists' and arts groups' work.
Visitors to the site will be invited to sign up to a
newsletter alerting them to developments and new features on
Kent on Canvas and customers' own photos can also be uploaded
to the website and printed in the same way.

Mike Hill said: "This is an innovative way to enjoy Kent's
beautiful scenery and have an image of the county's landscapes and
countryside at home. I am sure this will prove extremely popular
with local residents and people from further ahead keen to enjoy
our cultural heritage." |
