The Highways Agency is advising drivers of changes
to traffic management taking place this weekend on the A2
London-bound between Marling Cross and
Ebbsfleet junctions in Kent.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane overnight
(10pm - 5am) on Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July.
During the day (5am - 10pm) on Saturday 12 July and Sunday 13
July there will be two lanes open to traffic.
Three lanes will be open to traffic from 5am on
Monday 14 July.
The work is being carried out to harmonize the road layout
between the existing A2 and the newly constructed carriageway, and
enable all four lanes of the new road to be opened to traffic in
the coming weeks.
Drivers are advised to keep to the speed
restriction through the roadworks and to drive with extra
care while they adjust to the new road layout.
This work is part of the second phase of the £144 million A2
Bean to Cobham improvement programme which is widening the A2 to
four lanes in each direction with a hard shoulder. Work on the
scheme began in September 2006 and is expected to be complete in
December 2008. |
