The Kent County Council
Gap Year Programme offers exciting opportunities for both young
people looking for experience, and companies looking for high
calibre employees.
The programme considers the needs of both
parties allowing it to bring them together in a mutually
beneficial relationship.
This has been another hugely successful year for the programme
and it has now placed a total of 260 young people in employment
throughout the county.
With the support of KCC and Kent businesses, students have had
some amazing opportunities, from Chemical Engineer to Library
Assistant.
Each post has been of great value to both the student and the
company, as can be seen in the comments from those that have
already taken part:
- "I would recommend the Gap Year Programme to students either as
good work experience for the future or as a potential step into a
future career." Helen Terry, working with Transport Integration at
KCC.
- "The Gap Year Programme has been really helpful. They took into
consideration the type of work I was after and found me many
suitable interviews. Having a fixed term contract has made it a lot
easier for me to plan the rest of my year out." Jennie Pryor
working with ifs (School of Finance).
- "The Gap year scheme has been very beneficial to Canterbury
Library. We have found that the recruitment of Gap year students is
a very smooth and fast process. Each student that we have met has
been of a high standard, hard working and very employable." Martin
Owen at Canterbury Library.
The programme offers placements for between three and 15 months
as well as some permanent opportunities.
It is easy to start making use of the Kent Gap Year
Programme.
