people have applied for more than a million tickets to see
next year's Paralympic Games.
International Paralympic Committee President Sir Philip Craven
said: "The response from the public for Paralympic Games tickets
has been phenomenal."
It is the first time in history that sessions at the Paralympics
have been oversubscribed and Sir Philip continued: "To have over a
million tickets applied for 11 months out from the Games is
unprecedented.
"It underlines the growing excitement for what will be a
tremendous sporting event and I could not be more thrilled."
Any remaining tickets will go on sale
between 2 December 2011 and 6 February 2012 - go to
the
London 2012 ticketing website to search for available
tickets.
Even though the event is ticketed, part of the
route will be free for you to go and watch the cycling events.
Building on success
The ParalympicsGB
cycling team won 20 medals, including 17 gold, at the
Beijing Paralympic Games in 2008 so we are hoping that their
success can be replicated at Brands Hatch during the London 2012
Games.
World class sporting events including the Tour de France
and World Cup Archery have been successfully hosted in Kent in
recent years, and this summer we also held the Open
Golf at Sandwich. With the Paralympic Cycling events coming in
September 2012, Kent now has a growing reputation for hosting
world level sporting events.
