Renewing library loans
NEW! Renewal alerts
Since 2 April we have been sending
out pre-overdues via email to customers who may be in
danger of keeping items overdue. Users of our library app will
also get alerts if they have enabled the notification option under
'Settings'.
These pre-overdues will be sent out 3
days before the item is due as a courtesy to remind customers to
return or renew their items.
The standard book loan period is 21 days. A slip with the
return date is provided by self service terminals
or staff may write the return date on
the book label.
To avoid paying overdue charges, items should be renewed
on or before the due date.
Delay in returning items and paying any outstanding fines could
mean that you incur an additional £10 charge and your details are
passed to our stock recovery service.
If you need to keep items for longer you can
- renew
them online or through our mobile
app up to 4 times - DVDs and audio items incur a
re-hire charge - using your library membership card
number and PIN - once logged into 'My Account' select
'current loans'. PINs can be requested via email or telephone,
but we reserve the right to withhold the PIN if we are not
satisfied that the enquiry is from the card holder.
- renew them in person in any of
our libraries, by telephone, by e-mail or by letter -
see the adjacent red 'Contact us' box
- providing that no-one else has requested the
item.
If renewing by telephone, e-mail or letter, please give your
borrower number (D0... shown above the barcode on your library
card) or the item number (C... on the barcode label inside the
front cover of the book).
Items will normally be renewed for a further full loan period
unless already reserved by another customer.
