Gravesend library in Windmill Street has undergone a complete transformation and reopened to the public on Tuesday 23 August 2011.Gravesend library soft launch

In a short ceremony on opening day, Mr Mike Hill KCC Cabinet Member for Customer and Communities, and Mr Avtar Sandhu KCC Deputy Cabinet for Customer presented the library's youngest and oldest customer with a book and flowers.

 

The tranformation

The refurbishment has seen the beautiful Carnegie building restored to its former glory, and a new annexe created to replace the former toyshop building.

Gravesend library now offers a whole range of services, including:

  • A room for library events and community meetings
  • A revamped courtyard reading garden
  • More local history material
  • A better collection of books and other materials
