Library refurbishments
We aim to modernise our library service to act as a focal
point for KCC services and widen access to Kent’s rich
culture. We do this through a continuous programme of
library refurbishments, improving access to and co-locating
services.
We want all our libraries to be bright, attractive and welcoming
to all the people who visit them looking afresh at the services we
provide to ensure they best meet the needs of the local
community.
In addition to last year's big projects
in Gravesend and
Ashford recently
completed and forthcoming refurbishments include:
- Kent Library and History
Centre
- Canterbury Beaney House of Art &
Knowledge
- Sheerness - The library has moved to be part
of the new Sheerness Gateway on the high street. The main library
is located on the first floor.
- Broadstairs - Complete refurbishment of the
building to create a much brighter open space including lift access
to the first floor, open to the public for the first time, and a
new more convenient main entrance. The library has combined with
Adult Education Services so you will find even more on offer when
you visit.
-
Edenbridge - The library has moved
into brand new premises together with more books and easy to
use self-issue machines. The library will be sharing
the building with the Citizens Advice Bureau, Eden Church,
House, West Kent Extra and a Cafe. It is now open for
longer hours, six days a week.
