Volunteering

Time2Give logoTime2Give is an exciting volunteering programme managed by Community Service Volunteers (CSV) for Kent Libraries and Archives. It offers enjoyable and worthwhile volunteering opportunities across the county's libraries. There are activities for everyone, whatever your age, experience or the amount of time you are able to give.

Time2Give volunteers add value to Kent Libraries and Archives in many ways, and some of the most popular activities include:homework helper

  • web wizards/ computer buddies - helping customers who are using library based computers
  • researching, collating and indexing local studies resources
  • helping staff with activities to encourage family use of libraries, like rhyme-time, or homework clubs
  • assisting with functions and events, including publicity and displays
  • helping out in practical ways, such as with the library garden
  • helping people across the community access library services, such as delivering books to customers who are homebound.

I met Gloria in the corridor and sheChris with Martha Lane-Fox recognised me saying “you’re my computer buddy!”  She was chairing the Conference and spoke of me being her buddy in her opening address, insisting that I stood up to wave to everyone!” It was a really interesting event - I spoke with many people and picked up lots of information.”

Chris also met Martha Lane-Fox, the UK's Digital Champion and Race Online 2012 supremo and was interviewed by the Open University.
