Coastal walking routes

Kent is a great place for walking and where better to enjoy a
day out than along a coastal trail? Kent's coastal trails
include:
The
Saxon Shore Way
- a fascinating 163 mile walk, from Gravesend to Hastings, East
Sussex. This walk follows the line of fortifications built along
the coastline by the Romans to keep out raiding Saxons.
- The South
Foreland walk offers a chance to explore parts of the
Saxon Shore Way and also sections of the North Downs Way.
- The Minnis Bay to Reculver Country
Park route follows the coastal defences of the North Kent
coast
- Walmer Castle to Deal Castle -
this accessible walk along the coast takes in two of the best
preserved fortifications to be found along this section of the Kent
coast.
- Samphire Hoe walk - Enjoy
magnificent views along this coastal walk through the newest part
of Kent. Samphire Hoe has been created from the spoil excavated
during the construction of the Channel Tunnel.
- Turner and Dickens - Take a walk
along the newly opened, 4 mile coast to coast route between
Turner's Margate and Dickens' Broadstairs.
- Maritime Heritage
Trail provides four trails centred around Thanet, Medway,
Whitstable/Herne Bay and Dover
- Wantsum Walk an 8 mile
trail between Herne Bay and Birchington, with a wealth of natural
and historic features
-
Dover wildlife walk - a short 4 mile circular walk thriving
with wildlife.
- Alternatively, there are some great cycle routes which you can
also walk on. Why not take a look at our coastal cycle
