Report a problem on Public Rights of Way

Hammer and waymarkerEach year, the Public Rights of Way and Access Service receives more service requests than it is able to resolve with the resources available. While we cannot deal with everything, all reports of problems on the network and service requests are recorded and are invaluable to help our Service manage the Public Rights of Way network more effectively. The information provided assists us in:

  • preparing and prioritising programmes of work,
  • targeting enforcement to ensure rights of way remain available for use,
  • directing the work of Countryside Access Wardens who help keep paths clear, visible and easy to use

In order to manage the level of service requests efficiently the Public Rights of Way and Access Service prioritises its work to ensure the network remains as safe, protected and accessible as possible. You can read the Public Rights of Way Management priorities.

In addition, some matters are complex, not easily resolved and may require action by other parties such as land managers. This means that some reports will take longer to resolve than others.
