Christmas is a great time to get out and explore the countryside and coast. With frost glistening on every surface and tranquil mists rolling over majestic landscapes, take the opportunity to wrap up warm, pack a flask of hot tea and enjoy the view.

If you would like to discover Kent with a group and knowledgable guide, take a look at our best Christmas guided walks.

BowOtford walk

This 5.3 mile route starts and ends in one of Kent’s most attractive villages, full of inns, restaurants and independent shops. The walk passes through countryside and woodland and offers fantastic wide views across the valley which the North Down’s Way route follows.

Knole Park walk

See the splendour of Knole House in it's majestic grounds, and take a walk where you might spot some of the deer who call the park home. The walk is free from gates or stiles and is on firm paths making it ideal for anyone with a pushchair or wheelchair. Why not stop for a hot cup of tea at the 'Brew House' tea-room, or take a look at the gift shop. Entry fees apply to Knole house, but worth a look to make your visit a great day out.

ReindeerMarlowe and Canterbury walk

Combine a Christmas shopping day with a chance to find out about the famous playwright and poet Christopher Marlowe. Canterbury was Marlowe’s birthplace and shares many interesting historical tales, from where he went to school to what was happening at the time including where protestants fleeing religions persecution stayed in Canterbury in the 16th Century.

SnowCranbrook walk

Set in the heart of the Kent Countryside, Cranbrook is another haven for independent shops and warm country pubs. Passing through woodland and open fields, this is a great way to enjoy the variety the countryside has to offer. The walk finishes back at Cranbrook, near the second tallest windmill in the British Isles.

Crab and Winkle Way

Whitstable is famous for seafood, restaurants and its pebble beach. Start near one of the traditional pubs on the seafront and cycle your way along surfaced paths through to Canterbury. There is bike hire in the area so just turn up and enjoy.

Elham walk

Nestled in An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Elham’s medieval church would look at home on the front of a Christmas card. The tranquillity of the countryside is moments from town, with stunning views across the valley.
