Equality and Diversity

Equality is about creating a fairer society where everyone can participate and have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

Diversity is about the recognition and valuing of difference in its broadest sense. It is about creating a working culture and practices that recognise, respect, value and harness difference for the benefit of those who use our services and for staff.

Equality and diversity are not interchangeable, they need to be progressed together. There is no equality of opportunity if difference is not recognised and valued.

We encourage all organisations to hold an Equality Policy and to deliver projects accordingly, to make a commitment to Equality and Diversity in their practice and ensure that their work is accessible and inclusive. We are happy to support and advise organisations in these areas so please email us at arts@kent.gov.uk if you would like any assistance or if you have something you would like us to mention or include.
