Audience development
Jam Packed 2 took
place in December 2009, following Jam Packed
1 (May 2009) which was attended by over 130 people
from the arts sector of Kent and the wider South East. That first
event aimed to ensure Kent arts organisations are aware of what the
county’s adoption of NI 11 meant, and how to tap into the resources
available from the Arts Council of England, and the new project
funding opportunities available.
Jam Packed 2 was more targeted, and aimed at arts
organisations who have to achieve an income through ticket sales.
Therefore the programme was designed to specifically look at
initiatives which support sales targets. This included
highlighting potential opportunities that venues in Kent may not
yet have considered, such as the 2012 Games and cooperative
activities with Adult Education.
We welcomed 27 representatives from arts organisations in Kent,
to hear a range of presentations that spanned London 2012
opportunities, arts and business sectors working together, Arts
Council England research, volunteering, and partnerships – followed
by table discussions of how people can draw on all this to generate
ideas that could translate into projects that create great art and
develop audiences.
