Kent Cultural Strategy Action Plan
The Kent Cultural Strategy Action Plan brings together new
partnerships working across disciplines.
It addresses the need to boost the Visitor Economy with 15
initiatives including collaborations between key partners such as
Turner Contemporary, Canterbury City Council’s Marlowe Theatre,
Creative Foundation, and the new Kent History and Library Centre.
Vehicles for promotion include the Dickens bicentenary in 2012, the
2012 Games and the Year of the Visual Artist in 2014.
The action plan will increase opportunities for young people to
find routes into work including nine projects creating new
apprentice and intern opportunities.
To grow the cultural sector in Kent the action plan commits to
four new business advisory initiatives and four initiatives to
develop new workspaces in Kent using existing buildings.
A legacy for the 2012 Games is to be achieved through twelve
projects building on the national Cultural Olympiad programme, the
BBC Live Site, the Lone Twin Boat project and the Kent Cultural
Baton.
There are a range of projects planned to increase participation
and to tackle health inequalities through cultural interventions to
tackle some of the priorities identified by Central Government and
the Strategy for Public Health in Kent.
The action plan partners have been inspired by other
contributions and momentum is now building. The action plan
remains “open for business” and will become more
ambitious.
