Free For All
Free For All
18 May – 14 July 2012
The
gallery received a proposal from an artist to create a mural in the
gallery using principles of automatic drawing. This raised
questions around whether work can really be created truly
automatically. Does the artist eventually have to intervene to make
conscious decisions about the work? Does process based work offer a
framework to free the artist from the conscious decision? How might
materials and processes shape or influence work of this type?
Artists were asked to submit work that explored these
questions.
Exhibiting artists:
Jonathan Bentall, Ian
Campbell-Briggs, Annie Halliday, Emma Harding, Kathleen Fox,
Steven Foy, Russell Scott-Skinner.
