Exhibitions and galleries in Kent's libraries
The John Downton Awards encourage and celebrate the achievements of the young artists of Kent.
The 2012 exhibition has now closed at County Hall, but there will be another chance to view the work of the prize winners at Turner Contemporary over Easter (26 March - 14 April 2013).
Our aims in the Arts and Culture Service are to enable arts activity to take place, and to support artists to develop their creative practice in order to grow the Kent economy and bring about positive change for residents and visitors in the county.
We invest in the arts because we value its contribution to the wellbeing of the county, and recognise it as a valuable tool for the county's work in economic and social regeneration, tourism, environmental protection, planning, health, community safety, skills development and education.
Since its launch in June 2010, the Kent Cultural Baton has provided Kent and over 10,000 people with 70 days of creative workshops and 51 days of events; and has involved 83 artists making 116 artworks about Kent. It has also been awarded 3 London 2012 Inspire Marks, in recognition of exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.
