Jonathan Ward moved to Kent in 1988.

He competed in 4 Paralympics, gaining medals in all but one Games.

During the 1988 Paralympics, he won a Gold Medal for shotput, a silver medal for discus and a bronze medal for the pentathlon.

He won a silver medal at the 1992 Paralympics, and a bronze medal  at the 2000 Paralympics both for the shotput event.

He has worked as Associate Disability Officer with responsibility for athletics, based in East Kent, and has over 20 years of experience providing services to young people with sight impairments.

In July 2010, Ward took up the post of Head of Rehabilitation Services at Kent Association for the Blind

He competes for the Ashford Athletics Club.
