Room hire

At the Discovery Centre we have a number of rooms available for hire that can accommodate between 10 and 30 people.

We also have a Theatre that can accommodate up to 100 people although further development work is due to start later in the year.

The centre has good accessibility for people with disabilities and there is a lift for access to all floors.

In line with KCC the centre operates a non-smoking policy.

Room Layouts

• Open block - square of tables and chairs with an open middle
• Boardroom - similar to open block but without open middle
• Classroom - rows of tables with chairs behind
• Theatre style - rows of chairs with a top table and chairs

Equipment

All rooms have whiteboards with one having an interactive whiteboard (room 110). Other equipment available for a nominal fee includes flip charts, OHP and TV and video or DVD.

For all your catering requirements contact our onsite bistro.

Car Parking

There are two public car parks situated near the centre:

• Albany Place 60p up to five hours, £1.20 all day
• Stembrook (near Somerfields) 60p up to one hour, £1.00 up to two hours

Boardroom Style

Square of tables and chairs with or without an open middle:

• room 101, contains 12 seats
• room 106 and 107, contains 10 seats and facilities include: a white board & pull down OHP screen
• room 110, contains 20 seats and facilities include: TV and video, interactive white board and data projector, pull down OHP screen
• room 111, contains 14 seats and facilities include: TV and video, white board & pull down OHP screen
• room 112, contains 20 seats and a white board
• rooms 206 and 207 contain 20 seats and a White board (room can also be split into two smaller rooms)
• rooms 208 and 209, contains 20 seats and facilities include: white board & pull down OHP screen (room can also be split into two smaller rooms)

Lecture Theatre Style

Rows of chairs with a top table and chairs or semi-circular, discussion style layout.

• Rooms 206 and 207 contain 25 seats (10 to 20 for discussion style layout) and a white board (room can also be split into two smaller rooms)
• Rooms 208 and 209 contains 25 to 30 seats (10 to 20 for discussion style layout) and facilities include: white board and pull down OHP screen (room can also be split into two smaller rooms)

The Theatre

This can seat up to 20 people on chairs and a further 85 on stepped seating. Facilities include a portable OHP screen and projector and a flip chart.
