Parents and carers

Our libraries have special collections of books chosen to help with a wide range of parenting issues such as:

  • Mother and baby in the library Pregnancy and birth
  • Caring for babies and toddlers
  • Dealing with common situations (going to the dentist/ hospital, fear of the dark, disability)
  • Ideas for children's parties
  • Healthy eating

Reading to or with your child is a major factor in future educational success, check out our 'Make every home a reading home' leaflet for tips.

Preschool leaders, carers of Looked After Children and registered childminders may borrow up to 20 items for eight weeks.

Parents educating their child at home

The School Library Service - Kent School Library Advisory Team - can help you with training courses, book loans, newsletters, teacher's reference material, advice and information.
