Heritage

The archaeological sites, historic landscapes and buildings of Kent form the historic environment. Kent County Council operates a number of services that conserve, enhance and promote Kent's heritage.

Kent is full of great historic places to visit. There are Neolithic tombs, Iron Age hill forts, Roman forts, Medieval castles and even a Cold War bunker.

Explore Kent's fascinating heritage with the online Historic Environment Record, a database of archaeological discoveries and historic buildings. There are photographs and maps and you can learn about subjects such as Roman Kent, Kent's castles and maritime Kent.

Kent's heritage belongs to us all. There are many ways to become involved in learning about, caring for and enjoying Kent's heritage.
