Camer Park, near Meopham, offers easy walking through more than
40 acres of mature parkland and woods, listed as an Area of
Outstanding Beauty.
The park is known for its wildlife. Recently, special programmes
have been set up to encourage several species, including slow worms
and common lizards, to breed.
Visitors may be fortunate enough to catch a
glimpse of the lizards basking in the sunshine. They are
totally harmless.
The park is a popular place for families walking, playing and
relaxing throughout the year and enjoying picnics in the summer and
autumn.
The tree-lined parkland was once attached to an 18th century
mansion, which is visible through the trees.
Camer Park was opened to the public in the early 1970s and is
now a key starting point for walkers exploring the local
countryside.
And tree enthusiasts can collect a tree trail leaflet from the
kiosk offering further information about the specimens to be viewed
along the route.
